WORDS FOR "EXODUS" 5th Anniversary!!
text:
clubasia Ao
"EXODUS" is held late every Wednesday night at club asia.
Gathering DJs, beatmakers, and artists active in various fields—led by FUJI TRILL—this party, commonly known as "Exo," continues to shake up Tokyo Shibuya's night scene.
Since its launch in 2021, it has never stopped its momentum, continuing to be held every week, and tonight, it finally kicks off its 5th Anniversary Month.
While anchored in HIPHOP, the event has recently featured many DJs who transcend genres and styles.
As diverse music and cultures intersect, it continues to evolve into a place where new encounters happen—both with music and with people.
This accumulation of moments nurtures the depth and charm unique to EXODUS, constantly captivating countless people.
Now that we have reached the milestone of our 5th anniversary, messages have been contributed by the performers, staff, audience members who have kept coming, and organizer Mr. Wan, who have all built EXODUS together, so that even those who haven't experienced EXODUS yet can feel its vibe and appeal.

FUJI TRILL
Starting in the middle of the pandemic, so much has happened over these past 5 years that I honestly don't know what to say...
There were plenty of encounters with new homies, and naturally, just as many farewells. We fought, we made up. Either way, I'm always drinking too much, so my memories are hazy (laughs).
Lately, thanks to all of you, Exo is doing amazing, so I want to make more moves to expand this culture and community!
I think some people might feel that asia on Wednesdays is intimidating, but there's no weird pickup scene, and quite a few people come alone.
I often see customers becoming good friends here too.
People might look a bit rough around the edges, but they're all genuinely good folks.
Please come through and hang out sometime.
DJ KOTARO
Exo 5th Anniversary! Thank you so much as always, everyone. 10 years, 20 years—excuse my language, but let's keep Exo going until everyone's funerals! Haha. Looking forward to your continued support!
KUROMAKU
Congratulations on the 5th anniversary of EXODUS!
I was invited right when EXODUS started, and I've been DJing every week for 5 years.
It feels magical that a single event can have multifaceted charm, change its expressions every week, and always maintain a fresh atmosphere. I believe it's because both the DJs and the crowd genuinely have fun with the music and share that vibe.
Even if it's just from 11 PM to 5 AM (or later), you forget the hard and exhausting times, enjoy the music, and get ready to push hard the next day—I believe Exo is a place full of that kind of energy.
I want to keep making various proposals as a place where people can always enjoy music. Much love!
G4CH4
Huge congratulations on EXODUS's 5th anniversary.
I've been participating at my own pace, about once or twice a month, since the early days.
To me, EXODUS is like an observation deck. Various performers, staff, and guests appear, disappear, and come back again, and even the regulars including myself gradually change our musical tastes, positions, and everyday environments. I feel like I've been watching those shifts constantly from a slight distance.
Amidst that, talking with people I don't usually get to chat with, dancing, and toasting, I feel like my senses somehow tune back to their starting point.
That said, writing it this way might make it sound too polished.
As for the public image, some might perceive it as a messy, complicated party where people go crazy drinking vodka every week and something dangerous is always happening, but it's partly true and partly not. For people who can't handle it, it might feel like an acquired taste, something bizarre. But for those who love it, it's an event you get thoroughly hooked on.
Taking this 5th anniversary as an opportunity, I hope you come and taste this "delicacy" called EXODUS at least once.
Also, aligned with the 5th anniversary, we are scheming some things for this year, so please look forward to that too.
To organizer Wan-san, manager Su-san, all the asia staff whom I always cause trouble for, all the unique performers, and above all, the guests who always come out to play, thank you so very much.

YU-RI
Congratulations on EXODUS's 5th anniversary.
I think the fun of EXODUS lies in the fact that people who purely love music gather here, unrestricted by genres or titles. For first-timers, it might look like a tight-knit clique at first glance, but in reality, everyone is polite, kind, and just a genuine music lover.
The staff are also warm, and I always feel a sense of security whenever I go.
I'm so grateful to everyone for being cool with me when I'm always just drunk (laughs).
Please continue to be the free-spirited place that defines EXODUS. Happy 5th anniversary!
ATSUKI
Going back five years to the middle of the pandemic, I was pretty stunned when Wan told me he was starting a new event every Wednesday.
He told me I could play whatever I wanted, but he wanted me to DJ first, so I took on the role of the very first opening DJ, not knowing what the full picture would look like, and played all sorts of music with a bit of bewilderment.
That night, seeing the people there passing around vodka bottles and wilding out as if saying "fuck Covid," I remember wishing that night would last forever.
And even now, 5 years later, the momentum of EXODUS hasn't faded at all, establishing itself as an indispensable party when talking about club asia.
Long live EXODUS! Everyone, come party!
HIGH-TONE
Back in the BED days, Wan-san didn't drink alcohol, so seeing him drinking at the 1st EXO was quite a shock.
If you feel something is missing or feel alienated at the events you usually go to, try coming here to hang out. Before you know it, I think EXO and asia will feel like home.
Leisu
At first, I used to commute to EXO all the way from Nagoya. I was around 22 back then, but everyone was so nice to a flashy punk like me. When my birthday coincidentally lined up with a night there, even though I wasn't performing yet, they celebrated me to death. A guest that night was an adult video director, and I got like two AVs. I lent them to ATSUKI-san later, but they still haven't been returned lol.
I persistently kept telling Wan-san, "I want to perform once I move to Tokyo! Did you listen to my mix?!" And right when I moved to Tokyo, he immediately booked me for EXO, and I was genuinely 𝑴𝑶𝑵𝑬𝒀 grateful.
By the way, my EXO debut was an OPEN DJ slot. During a time when it was just me DJing and only Wan-san and Nackey-san on the floor, I sang Hell Freezes Over's "Who is hurt?" at full blast—such a great memory.
Once again, happy 5th anniversary! With renewed gratitude and respect to Wan-san, the asia staff, and all the Exo members who keep protecting this place, I want to celebrate in a big way!
Since it's the 5th anniversary, amazing guests are performing every week, but I plan to act like I'm the main character and show everyone what EXO is all about! Osu! I'll probably cause a crazy amount of trouble, so let me apologize to the asia staff in advance! I am truly sorry! Let's get it for the anniversary month!

EXODUS is a party I love because every time brings new discoveries and so much inspiration.
Not only can you experience various forms of expression and works like DJs, tattoos, live painting, and exhibitions, but both the guests and performers gather with immense passion, which I find very captivating.
While having festival-like chaos, it coexists with a sense of coolness and stoicism, and I am inspired by that atmosphere every time.
I also love that you can forget everyday life for a while and enjoy yourself from the bottom of your heart.
I am so happy to be involved in the milestone of this party's 5th anniversary.
Throughout July, both floors will be open every week along with appearances by gorgeous guests, so I think it will be an even more interesting space than usual.
I also want to challenge myself to do things that can only be done at Exo.
For those who have never come out before, please take this chance to visit!
KANT
I am deeply grateful to be able to DJ with everything I have inside one of the music scene's true cultures.
It's already been 2 years since my first performance, and I will always love EXODUS!!
Tayouna Kachikan
Congratulations on the 5th anniversary.
Tayou has been performing since last year, but being alongside the place and the players I've admired since high school is something that still feels unreal.
I think the greatest charm of Exo is its inclusiveness. People tend to associate it with trap or metal, but in reality, both the music played and the people who gather are truly diverse. (I was surprised when there was a solid jungle set.) This got a bit serious, but in short, it's a fun party.

Congratulations on EXODUS's 5th anniversary!!
Exo has DJs of all kinds of genres, and I consider it an event where I can make new discoveries myself! I want to hype up EXODUS so that I can provide that same spark for someone else too!
Also, I understand why people say it's intimidating, but everyone is kind, so first-timers can come with peace of mind lol

First off, congratulations on EXODUS's 5th anniversary!!
Every time, I have so much fun that my memory blanks out, so memories don't come to mind right away, but if I had to pick, my memory is waking up after passing out to Wan-san saying "Good morning!" while pouring me a drink of vodka.
For the 5th anniversary, I won't pass out and will stay standing until the end!!
When I first went to EXODUS, I was worried, thinking, "What if I get beaten up?" But when I actually went, it was an incredibly warm and peaceful space. It's a party where even first-timers can have fun without worry!
Also, asia's vodka is the absolute best, so let's definitely toast together!!

Congratulations on EXODUS's 5th anniversary!
About a year has passed since Wan-san invited me, and I'm always having fun playing while getting inspired by various DJs. Along with this wonderful community, I hope to grow even more as a DJ and continue to hang out a lot!
I'd really love for people who haven't come before to experience this space.
It's a one-of-a-kind party. I love it!!!!

Congratulations on EXODUS's 5th anniversary ⭐︎
I am truly happy to continue delivering my artwork at the incredible place called EXODUS!
To me, EXODUS is an irreplaceable place in my life. It holds a mysterious power that naturally connects people to one another.
If you haven't come to hang out yet, please come experience this space for yourself at least once!
To Wan-san, Su-san, all the performers, the asia staff, and everyone who comes to EXODUS: thank you so much as always!!!!
Shiruha (Painter)
My heartfelt congratulations on EXODUS's 5th anniversary.
It was an event I admired since high school, and while I made up my mind that I absolutely wanted to go, my musical talent was hopeless. "What can I do that's unique to me...? Ah! I like drawing!" Coming to that realization was the very first motivation for me to start painting seriously.
I love the time spent painting at asia while listening to incredible DJs. If someone ever comes to a club for the first time just to see my art, maybe that will be my way of giving back.
EightBall (LIVE PAINT)
The most memorable night so far would have to be when I painted at EXODUS before the renovation of club asia. Hearing that the iconic red bar counter was going away, I wondered if we could make a memory together. I thought, "If they're going to tear it down, I'd love to write messages all over the counter, but practically speaking that's not possible..." After thinking it through, I decided to take a chance and have the performers and guests draw art and graffiti directly on the bar counter inside my painting. Drinking, dancing, putting arms around shoulders, and laughing. Before I knew it, on my canvas was the usual scene of EXO, that bar counter, and the gradually increasing graffiti.
I was really happy and had so much fun being able to concentrate the usual atmosphere of EXODUS into a single painting.
Looking ahead to the 5th anniversary of EXODUS, while naturally handling my activities as usual, I hope I can give back to everyone little by little!
To those who haven't been to EXODUS yet: some might think everyone at EXO looks scary! Don't worry. Once you have a drink, everyone is a friend. Everyone is nice. (For real)

Toriten (EXHIBITION)
I photograph landscapes in Shibuya featuring stickers and graffiti, and paste those photos around the DJ booth. Lately, I've also been taking photos of the performers on my own initiative.
The first time I went to Exo was the day of the music video shoot for TYOSiN's "A9." I didn't know anyone, but I dived alone right into the music I loved.
Before I knew it, I was holding exhibitions, and my acquaintances grew, but Exo is a place where you can enjoy yourself however you want, even if you come alone.
Feel free to holler at me anytime you want a photo taken!
NAOHIRO YOSHIDA (LIVE PAINT)
I've been participating in EXODUS through live painting for about a year now.
At first, Wan-san gave off a slightly intimidating vibe (laughs), but now he lets me create freely, for which I'm very grateful.
Live painting, finishing a piece within a limited time each round, also serves as great training for me.
Congratulations on the 5th anniversary! It's a high-energy event where various cultures cross paths, including DJs, live tattoos, and art.
Experiencing that atmosphere throughout the entire night is truly unique to EXODUS.
Even if you haven't been here yet, please come hang out at least once!
Kazü (LIVE TATTOO)
It's been 2 years since I got involved with EXODUS. Every time I do live tattooing, I receive real inspiration from the music, art, and people. To me, EXODUS is a venue where I can express my own style as it is.
Congratulations on the 5th anniversary. I look forward to this vibe continuing on!
Ratora (LIVE TATTOO)
Congratulations on EXODUS's 5th anniversary!
Ever since I first visited in 2021, I was blown away by the insane energy of the DJ roster (plus getting tattooed on site!).
Live tattooing is increasingly common nowadays, but this party undoubtedly pioneered and forged that culture, so I'd love for those who haven't come yet to experience it. I look forward to continuing to leave memories with everyone in the form of tattoos!!
KYT/MYWAY KHAOS (LIVE TATTOO)
Congratulations on EXODUS's 5th anniversary.
The first time I stepped foot into this chaotic event called EXODUS was in 2023. I seriously thought, "There's no way I'll make friends here," but before I knew it, I was surrounded by many friends and seniors. I thought it was scary too, so others might feel hesitant to go for the same reason, but if you love sound, a little alcohol, and partying, there's a friend right next to you!
If anyone wants to start something new or creative, let's definitely talk!
Wan-san, thank you as always for the fun party! I'll keep drinking!
AMON
It's like a home where you can experience the extraordinary every week, knowing you'll run into someone if you go.
REVY
Congratulations on EXODUS's 5th anniversary!
Despite being in the dead middle of the week on a Wednesday, it's a party where both performers and guests gather to genuinely enjoy the party! You can experience diverse cultures and meet people you'd only ever cross paths with at EXODUS, making it an event I look forward to every week!
I often hear people say they want to go to the Wednesday party at asia but are too scared, and watching the videos might indeed make you think that way.
However, once you actually come, you'll feel it's a welcoming, homey party where guests and performers create the vibe together!
Please come out and visit EXODUS at least once🤘
Jimmy Rotten
Heartfelt thanks as always for providing tons of delicious vodka!!!
It is the one-and-only, ultimate party DEATH.

club asia STAFF ▼▼▼
Ucchi
Congratulations on EXODUS's 5th anniversary!
To me, EXODUS is a beloved party that I've admired since high school and was also the reason I came to know club asia. I am so glad to work as staff at such a party and meet so many people.
Wan-san and all the performers, huge congratulations on 5 years!
For those who haven't come to hang out yet, please come feel the energy that hardly feels like a Wednesday night!
Koyo
Honestly, judging by looks alone, there are many people who look a bit (?) scary, but in reality, they are truly warm and kind. Even working as staff, it feels less like work and more like spending time with good friends. Regardless of appearance, race, or gender, I feel it's a place where you can genuinely be your true self.
And huge congratulations on EXO's 5th anniversary!!
Continuing consistently for 5 years (and weekly, no less) is truly an amazing feat.
Also, many people who initially came as customers become active as performers; that close distance and the creation of interpersonal connections are major charms of EXO.
I have nothing but gratitude for everyone, starting with Wan-san and Fuji-san.
I hope it continues to be a comfortable place for many people going forward.
Su
Congratulations on "EXODUS"'s 5th anniversary!
It's been 5 years since I consulted with Wan-san about hosting a weekday DJ party, and countless bottles of vodka have been emptied...
"EXO" was built by carefully crafted weekly timetables, floor-rocking DJs, and the wild spirits who found their sanctuary here.
"EXODUS" is the party that represents today's club asia and transformed club asia.
Let's keep going until asia breaks down. (The snacks Wan-san buys and brings in every week are low-key the best)

————————————————————————-
Never Alone (Wan-san)
EXODUS started right in the middle of the pandemic.
It was a considerably difficult time for the club industry, but looking back, it may have been an environment ripe for experimental challenges.
Securing a regular weekly slot at asia and locking down weekly schedules of popular DJs starting with FUJI—in retrospect, these are things that might be difficult to pull off if starting today.
Also, back when I was the president of another club in my previous job, the policy catering to investors and VIP guests forced DJs to play sets against their wills, which became a huge regret of mine. Having a strong desire to do the exact opposite influenced our founding policy: "Each DJ plays what they are best at and what they genuinely want to play." I pride myself on having stuck to that without wavering for 5 years.
Moving forward, we plan to push forward with artist booths like LIVE TATTOO, which have become even more vibrant recently. While remaining an event grounded in HIPHOP, with the two-floor setup we also envision optimizing each DJ's individuality in the right environment. I want to expand this community and culture even further.
Many might not have attended Exo yet but have seen it on social media. I believe it has a much lower barrier to entry and is far more welcoming than you might expect. Please come hang out at least once!
Nowadays, becoming a fan of a rapper seems to serve as the main entryway into the HIPHOP and club scene, but for those who take a step further to take an interest in producers and DJs, I truly want you to experience the joy of a DJ-only party.
We'll be waiting for you every Wednesday in our 6th year at club asia.

In commemoration of this 5th anniversary, sales of the "EXODUS TO NEW BLOCK" T-shirt have just launched.
It also bears the 11th anniversary of "BLOCK" to be held in August, making it a special item celebrating milestones for both events.
And amazingly, the music video of the same title by 042ghxst and DJ Ogdoad has also been released.
Filmed on site at club asia, the video captures the raw energy and realism of "EXODUS" as it is.
A must-watch before welcoming the 5th anniversary!!042ghxst - EXODUS TO NEW BLOCK (prod. DJ Ogdoad)

Starting tonight at last: "EXODUS" 5th Anniversary.
Having taken place on club asia's 1F LOUNGE until now, EXODUS scales up for this anniversary month by opening up the 2F FLOOR as well.
Furthermore, hosting amazing special guests every week, a lineup authentically characteristic of Exo is realized, where diverse music and cultures intersect with HIPHOP at the core.
No matter which week you visit, something is bound to happen—an impressive scale truly worthy of a 5th anniversary.
Whether you visit regularly, haven't experienced Exo yet, or are feeling bored with daily routine:
Why not seize this chance to dive in and surrender yourself to "EXODUS" at club asia every Wednesday—where rules are unnecessary and common sense isn't required?

Heartfelt thanks as always for providing tons of delicious vodka!!!
It is the one-and-only, ultimate party DEATH.
